Advertisers Retaliate

NEW YORK – In an article reported on YAHOO NEWS, “Attack on Obama files Beck’s advertisers,” apparently fewer advertising companies are willing to advertise their product on the Glen Beck show that airs on Fox News Channel. The article cites; “A total of 33 Fox advertisers, including Wal-Mark Stores Inc., CVC Caremark, Clorox and Sprint, directed that their commercials not air n Beck’s show, according to the companies and, a group that promotes political action among blacks and launched a campaign to get advertisers to abandon him.” This is a direct quote from that article.

It is time for the public to make their voices heard. Even though we may have differences of opinions about how things should be done, there is no reason to viciously attack others merely for political gains. Glen Beck apparently made a comment calling President Barack Obama a racist. As a man with a white mother and grand parents, it would seem highly unlikely that he hates white people.

Under the First Amendment people are free to make such outlandish comments but we are equally as free to reject things that are purely inflammatory. It is time for the public to rise above the gutters and stand for truth, justice, and fairness. It is high time we take back our power from those who wish to tell us what and how to think, even when it goes against our better judgment. If people, of all races and/or political affiliations, want to spread dissensions, then we should not buy into them, no matter who they are. If they are spreading love and a means of prospering as a nation in a positive manner we may choose to support their causes.
